Exocet retrospect: What I wish I knew when building it.
- The NB OEM exhaust conflicts with the transmission cover at the front cat flange. Cut a hole or it will be difficult mounting the cover straight.
The NB OEM exhaust resonator won't fit. Needs to be cut off.
The frame might not be flat and symmetrical. Do not rely on the frame to determine levelness and ride height.
The gas tank should be mounted raked (rear higher). Otherwise it will never be filled full.
The distance between front and rear subframe mounting point might not be OEM. Do not force it as some guide suggested. Loose the front PPF bolts a bit. Otherwise you will damage your engine/diff mounts.
Make sure only drilling left-to-right square bars when mounting the seats! The front-to-rear bars are much weaker.
My nose + hood flaps when driving at high speed. It was only mounted at the front-bottom (rotates over a pair of pins) and rear, so that it can be opened to the front. I think the fiberglass can tolerate the vibration but strengthen its mounting point so it won't break.
Panel noise is very annoying. Make sure they were either tight or some dampener is used.
The wind shield bezel is not flat and narrower on top. Require some improvisation to mount a flat safety glass.
Oh not really exocet thing but I found the schedule 40 nipple works like a charm. I learnt it from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKOFTp0PtYc and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FtZXZrlNxE.
(I'll update when I encounter anything new...)
